WCEA Self-Study for School Improvement Update

Dear Salesian Family,

We are currently in the second year of our self-study process. We appreciate all of the input the school community contributed through your survey responses last year. This process involves an intensive self-evaluation of the school in which we identify our strengths and areas in which we would like to see growth. We have solicited input from all members of our school community.

Last fall we asked all families, students and staff to complete surveys evaluating the school in many different areas of effectiveness. From these surveys we began to identify areas of strength and need. Along with this we revised our Mission and Philosophy statements to more clearly communicate our unique Catholic Identity expressed in the Salesian charism. The Salesian charism is the gift of the Holy Spirit given initially to Don Bosco and expressed through our mission in bringing Jesus Christ to the young. In addition, we revised our Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLE’s) and created observable outcomes so that we can more easily track students’ progress toward achieving these outcomes. They were published in the Principal’s Newsletter.

I will keep you posted on the progress of our Self-Study as we continue to work on our final draft. Thank you for your continual support. Let us keep this time of Self-Study in prayer asking Our Blessed Mother to be our constant guide as we work together to “Empower the young with Knowledge, Faith and Love”.

God bless,

Sr. Carmen, FMA
