Give someone a COMPLIMENT because kindness spreads.

Dear Salesian Family,

It’s October, and we have so many beautiful feasts to celebrate. This month is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, titled “Queen of the Holy Rosary.”

We started the month with the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, who said, “ When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens. I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth.” Then, today, we have the feast of the Guardian Angels. We believe each of us has a Guardian Angel watching over us to protect and guide us. We also have the beautiful feast of St. Francis of Assissi on October 4th with his love for God’s creation.

We will celebrate a special Mass for Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7th at 11:00 a.m. You are all invited to attend. On October 9th at 7:00pm, we will have our Family Rosary Night, and everyone is invited to spend some time praying the rosary for our families' intentions and the many needs of the world around us.

Our practice during October is to give genuine compliments. We have talked about how this is such a selfless act, and words have more power than we realize. They can either make or break someone’s spirit. By giving compliments, you share kindness and compassion in your own way.

I encourage you to challenge your children to give at least one genuine compliment to a family member each day. This is such a rewarding experience for both the person who gives the compliment and the one who receives it. Let us all try to practice this together!

God bless,

Sr. Carmen, FMA
