Feeling stressed?

Dear Salesian Family,

How often have you felt stressed out this week and unable to cope with emotional pressure? Why can’t we seem to let it go? It’s by taking a deep breath and trying to remind ourselves that we honestly are not the center of the universe… we want to be calm and serene and create a sense of serenity in our everyday life.

Someone once shared with me that when I encounter times like these, it helps to try scrolling through the contacts on my phone and find someone I have not spoken with for a long time. Engaging in wholesome conversation not only strengthens the bonds that I’ve had but also brings a sense of warmth and nostalgia, and simply stirring the embers, the spark of our renewed friendship is immediately enkindled. By doing this, I have gained some insights that help me remember that stress is a part of our everyday life, and once shared, the pressure becomes lighter. With God at the center of my life, my heart helps me to drive away all pessimistic thoughts and focus on the gift of life God has given me!

This all calls for us to be present in the moment, mindful, and appreciative of the gift of life. I once read a quote: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift from God. That is why we call it the present” (Bill Keane). So, let us live the present moment in love!

God bless,

Sr. Carmen, FMA
