Respect

Dear Salesian Families,

We have selected a virtue for each month of our school year, which will be the focus of my daily Morning Message during our assembly. Our virtue for the month is respect. We begin to learn respect at home when we are very young. It is an attitude of treating one another with dignity and caring about the other person. It means being considerate, courteous, and extending basic good manners, simply, being polite.

Since we are celebrating Grandparents Day this coming week, let us find the best way to honor them. They have made many sacrifices for us as we grew up and continue to do the same for our children. They have given us a strong and solid foundation to continue building our lives. Let us teach our children to grow in appreciating them. Have them spend quality time with them and always show respect and love. Not because they give them things but because of who they are for you and for them.

I once read that children are ‘energy boosters’ for grandparents. It helps them to create strong bonds and to strengthen family relationships. I encourage you to take a moment to discuss with your child what would be special to do with their grandparents this weekend. You can be sure that the joy it will bring your child and your parents will be priceless!

God bless,

Sr. Carmen, FMA
