Weekly Update 1/06/2020

Good afternoon parents!

I hope you all had a wonderful, restful break. As we hop into this new calendar year, we have a few updates and announcements for this week:

Next week we will be conducting our Renaissance testing for the second trimester for our Kindergarten students. This periodic testing allows us to monitor student progress, and make adjustments if necessary. Once completed, I will send home a parent report in your student’s folder with information on their progress.

As you may know, Salesian builds its foundation on St. Don Bosco’s three pillars of education: reason, religion, and loving kindness. As such, we have developed school wide learning expectations (SLE) for students under each pillar. Starting last month, we have been focusing on one SLE per week as a school. This week we will be recognizing students who have demonstrated a complete understanding of last month’s focus SLE (demonstrating reason through the development and use of our God-given talents). These students will be given an SLE “free dress slip”. The slip contains information for when their free dress day is. Please be attentive to your student’s folder as I will be sending home the slip if your child is recognized.

Finally, this coming Sunday, January 12th is our Open House from 2-4. This year, we are asking all current families to attend as the students will be demonstrating skills they have developed in class. This is such a great opportunity for you to see the great work we are doing in class, as well as showcase the many things Salesian has to offer to new families.

As always, if you have any questions please email me! Have a great week,

Miss Jones
