Looking Into Week 3! Welcome Mrs. A!
/Good News! Good News! Good News!
The Kinder is welcoming Mrs. A into our classroom Monday - Friday 9:00 to 2:00! We welcomed her on Thursday and Friday this week and she is now ours for both in class and outside learning! ! I know you will help her feel welcome. Having her means more hands and eyes on deck, as well as more papers home and projects prepped. You are always welcome in my room but as with any school event, you must be cleared with the office. I look forward to meeting with my Room Moms next week and plotting out our adventures!
As a reminder, we need to have a change of clothes for all students at school. Please pack a ziplock bag with undies, socks and shorts/pants. We have already needed changes for kids and had to borrow from others. Thank you for all understanding that this is important for hygiene and less phone calls to you!
If your family did Summer Work, please do send that in. I have 18 of 26 packets. If you did not do Summer Work you may take this time while we are NOT having homework to work on those skills. Reading each day, tracing ABCs and 123s, and playing Math Reasoning Games are all important. The packet is listed at the bottom of this class page. It is not too late!
What’s the Writing Process for Kinder? Right now we are using fat white board markers on individual boards. We will move to fat pencils and paper soon. You will see that we are doing a lot of coloring and directed drawing, which is basically getting those hands strong to do more detailed print very soon. White boards are less frustration than papers. Paper rips and wrinkles and flies away which can be hard when you are just trying so hard to get your writing to scale. We will do a progression where you see them draw, draw with detail, label. copy a sentence, add to a sentence….it will build and build and build.
The kids and I have been playing with patterns. We are focussing on ABAB or AABB or ABC patterns with shapes, colors or images. This is also a conversation in size, shape and likeness. I hope you can find some time to chat with them about patterns that may be around them at home and give a “YES” to games, apps and books that encourage these lessons.
