November 20th - 22nd: Noon Dismissal and Parent / Teacher Conferences

November 25th: Awards Assembly at 8 a.m.


Religion: Our religion unit is titled God Calls Us to Love. In this unit, we will learn about the leaders in the Church such as bishops, crosiers, and our Pope. We will also learn about parables.

Spelling: We will work on the /s/ sound made with the spelling patterns ci, ce, and cy this week.

Reading: Our story this week is Tell Me, Tree by Gail Bibbons. It is an expository text about different kinds of trees. We will learn how to classify and categorize information.

Grammar: This week we work on adjectives.

Math: We are working on weight this week. We have been working with grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds. By the end of this week, we will start a mathematical review where we review the concepts covered in units 1 - 4.

Social Studies: We have completed our map work on land and water in the United States. We will continue to use the globe as we identify the seven continents.

Science: We are learning about motion and how things move. As a part of this unit, students will be outside walking, skipping and running. We will time students for each of these activities.

Computers: Durning our computer time, we continue to work on keyboarding skills using typing.com. This week we focused on the E and I keys. During our computer time, we also completed our first trimester of AR Reading. We are proud to say that all the students made their goals! Next week students will be taking the STAR Reading test again to determine their new AR reading range. Students will also receive a new AR reading points goal. As we start trimester two, our point counts for AR will be cleared and each student will start to work towards earning their trimester two points goal. Be sure to read each night and come prepared on Wednesdays to take AR quizzes.
