Well here we are in the middle of winter and the Kinders are growing fast! Some kids are taking off and working independently! With some Kinders you can see the wheels turning as we explore counting by 10’s and 1’s, to think about place value up to 100! Some are starting to CVC read and master those sight words! It is all very exciting!

Speaking of exciting we will be hosting our School’s Open House in the middle of this week! It is your chance to stop in and see what all we are up to! Most importantly it is a time to drop a note to your friends and send them over to school to see what we are all about! Wed. Feb. 7th starting at 9:00.

On Fri. Feb. 9th we will be celebrating our 100th Day of School. This will mostly take place after lunchtime with lots of counting to 100! Students should bring in their small 100 collections, such as pennies, goldfish crackers, legos, etc.

The following week is also a wonderful time to join us for our amazing Fat Tuesday Pancake Breakfast and Raffle! It is well worth getting up early for! The kids and staff love having breakfast together! Tickets are $5 each or $20 per family. Tues. Feb. 13th at 6:45 a.m. in the school cafeteria.

On the same day Tues. Feb 13th we will celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day in our classroom by exchanging a simple card or treat or goodie bag per child after lunch. If you can please DO NOT write individual names. It is easiest for kids gifts to be generic or labeled boys/girls. Sister Carmen is very clear that this is not a party. This is a time to show our simple appreciation to friends. We have 19 students in our class. It is also a wonderful time to remember the Sisters, Mrs. Lobue, Abolita, Coach, Our Librarian, Cafeteria Helpers, and all those who support the Kinder.

Lastly, Wed. Feb. 14th is Ash Wed. and we will have both mass and ashes at 11:00 in our school chapel. You are most welcome to join us!
