"Back To School Night" and other happenings this week....
/Hello Folks,
I can hardly believe that Labor Day has come and gone. Well….almost. I am actually writing you from our family cabin here in Arnold, CA. We are holding on to summer and hope you are too!
Very Short Story:
Wednesday is Back to School Night at 7:00! Please come. Pretty please with sugar on top!
Longer Story:
Tuesday: Music Class and Early Literacy Assessments Continued with Mrs. Lenz
Wednesday: PE and Back To School Night (For Parents)
Thursday: Mass at 11:00 (Dress Uniform)
Friday: Library (Return Your Book) and Art
What library book? This is the first year that the Kinders have checked out books from our School’s Library. Most all of the kids checked out one story this last Friday. They have two ways of returning their books. 1) There is a book drop currently in the cafeteria. If they drop it in the box then they will be all set to get a new one on Friday. 2) They can bring their book back on Friday when we visit the library as a class. I think it best that they ONLY have one book out at a time. As I hope you know, we have a large Classroom Library too for them to use daily.
What Early Literacy Assessment? Don’t worry. This is really just the warm-up for them to know how to use the computer and the assessment tool itself. I take the kids two by two to a quiet spot where they sit one on each side of me and use a touch screen Chrome Book and headphones to 1) watch an introduction video, 2) practice the process of listening and answering, 3) take the assessment as a benchmark . We will follow this same process once again for each trimester and I will share those reports at conference time. I am able to take the kids one by one or retest if I feel there is a large discrepancy (IE…they didn’t hear the text, they wanted to go fast, they had to use the bathroom, they got distracted by a passing dog).
Enjoy your week!
