Week of 10/12/20

Hello parents!

We will be starting homework this week, so please make sure to send your student with a plastic homework folder. I will send home the outline at the beginning of every school week and it will include any worksheets they need to complete as well as a reading log. It is important that students are getting at least 15-20 minutes of reading each night to develop their skills. At this level, reading can include picture walks (students predict the storyline by analyzing the pictures), listening to an adult read, or reading basic books themselves. For Language Arts, we will be completing pages out of their textbooks so they will need to bring that textbook home and to school each day. Math will consist of worksheets I have printed and included in the packet. Since we are trying to reduce the transfer of materials as much as possible, I request that you submit their work on Seesaw at the end of each day. Homework packets will not need to be returned, however, please send your student's homework folder each day in case of any handouts from the office need to go home.

Next, due to our protocols to keep students and staff safe, we need to keep the windows and door to our classroom open to allow proper air circulation. As you can imagine, it gets pretty cold in the room in the morning. Please send your student to school with adequate layers and warm clothing to maintain their comfort.

Finally, I have a few reminders regarding our school dress code. Shoes for dress uniform days need to be all black. The only time students are permitted to wear black shoes with white on them is for PE. If students are wearing shorts or pants and a polo shirt, they are required to wear a vest as well. Girls wearing their jumpers should also wear their navy blue cardigan. If you are missing any items for either the PE or dress uniform, you may email or call Theresa in the office. We do have some gently used items for sale at a discounted price, however, the items are limited and will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis.

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
