Religion: We are going to study Seventh through - Tenth Commandments: Jesus Calls Us to Love Others.

Life cannot flourish within a community when people lie and steal from one another. A community in which there is no respect for truth and for what belongs to others can be described as dead. The Ten Commandments are life and death issues, for we want our community, our family, our parish, our school, our workplace to be alive, we need to follow the Ten Commandments.

Reading: Our next lesson is a Tall Tale of a man by the name of John Henry who worked to make the Big Bend Tunnel for the C & O Railroad in the 1800's. He would use a nine pound hammer to drive a piece of steel into the ground to produce holes that were used by the demolition team to blow the rock away. When his company tries to replace him with a steam drill, John claims that he is more powerful and can out perform. The story will leave students wondering whether a man can really beat a machine.

Students will write their own Tall Tale in class.

Vocabulary: We will continue Unit 11 Vocabulary Words Test and Dictation on Wednesday.

Grammar: We will continue to study Pronouns.
