Third Grade News and Homework for the Week of September 23, 2019

Today, we welcome a new student to Third Grade :) Shane

The fall season is officially here. Hopefully we will start seeing some cooler weather.  Thank you to all the families that showed up to clean the beach on Saturday. Great picture of the participants.

We get to celebrate Mass this Tuesday, September 24, at 11:00. The fourth grade will be animating the Mass for us. Please join us if you can.

Wednesday, September 25, picture day.

Thursday, September 26, is the San Francisco Giants game hosted by our Booster Club.  Please let me know if you are planning to go to the Giants, so that I may plan accordingly.

Friday, September 27, there is no school for you.  Please enjoy your 3 days off.

Friday, October 18, first field trip. We will be going to Seussical the Musical performed by the Christian Youth Theater. Our very own Peter Kehoe who graduated last year will be the star of the play. Check out the poster hanging in our classroom.

***Please find the permission slip in your homework folder.

We have 20 seats reserved/15 students/1 teacher and 4 drivers. One parent has already asked to drive, so that leaves 3 spots left.  I am going to do it, first come first served:)

If you get your permission slip into me first you will be driving. To make sure it is fair, or as fair as I can make it, please hand me your permission slip, and I will number them in the order I receive them. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Reading

Today we officially started our Unit on Cricket in Times Square. Each night, students will be asked to reread or read a chapter and answer some questions to be discussed the next day in class. It is very IMPORTANT that you bring your packet and book (Cricket in Times Square) to school everyday.

Grammar

We will finish up our unit on sentences and move on to nouns next week.

Math

We continue our unit on adding and subtracting.  Please continue to get your basic math facts mastered.  Most of you are there.  Science

We finished our Intro to Science Unit. We discuss what tools scientists need to conduct experiments. We looked at charts and graphs, and the scientific method.

I would like everyone to bring in a VOSS water bottle by Thursday for our first scientific inquiry.  Please get the middle size. We will be investigating the different density of liquid. 11.5 oz
