Dear parents,

Welcome to sixth grade! It is a great joy to be your child’s homeroom teacher this year. My name is Sr. Melissa, and I am joining the middle school team this year. I was previously in San Antonio, Texas where I taught middle school science at St. John Bosco School.

Sixth grade will be an exciting time for you and your child as they dive into middle school. Sixth graders learn to be more independent as they begin to assume greater responsibilities to prepare for high school. It will be a year of considerable academic and social growth. I strive to help your children become good citizens and honest Christians of society. Communication will be a key part of that. For the first day of school, please have your child bring one permanent marker and magazine pictures of anything that relates to science, religion, and things they are passionate about. We will use these magazine cut-outs to begin decorating our spiral notebooks.

I look forward to a grace-filled school year! Let us pray for one another. With Mary Help of Christians at our side, together we can lead our children to Jesus.
