Hello Families,
Last week’s math with estimation was difficult for a lot of students. They know how to round to tens and hundreds so I think the difficulty was with all the words (estimation, actual value, sum, difference, more than, and less than). It’s important that students know math vocabulary, and it’s very important that they read problems carefully so they understand what they are supposed to do.
This week we’re focusing on word problems with addition and subtraction. I’m asking students to read problems to you so your child can show you how they think problems should be solved.
Please continue using flashcards to quiz your child on basic addition and subtraction facts. The facts are learned by repeated practice. Thank you for your support!
