Third Grade News and Homework for the Week of December 2, 2019
/Third Grade News and Homework for the Week of December 2, 2019
It’s getting to look a lot like Christmas everywhere we go...We decorated the class today for Christmas and I must say it looks beautiful. Come by and take a look!
Shhhhhhhh... it’s time for secret santa!Today students pulled a name out of a hat. You will be their secret santa. Each Friday, students will bring a small token, and I do mean small to give to their special person.
Suggestions:
A cookie, brownie, candy cane...
A quarter to buy something in canteen
A small stuffed animal $1.00 store or item at home
Crayons, markers, erasers etc.
Just a little something to get everyone in the giving spirit of Christmas. Students may add a little note, a riddle or a clue as to who they might be, but remember to keep your identity a secret. IF THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY THEN BRING THE TOKEN ON THURSDAY.
At our Christmas party on Wednesday, December 18, from 2-3:00 we will exchange gifts. Gifts should not be over $10.00.
Remember to wrap the final gift and put it under the tree. REMEMBER DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE GIFT. ONLY PUT THE PERSON’S NAME ON THE GIFT. Don’t forget your gifts each week otherwise someone will feel left out and we don’t want that, do we.
We will be starting our unit on Mr. Popper’s Penguin tomorrow. Each night students will be reading and answering questions in their Mr. Popper’s Penguin Packets.
Next week we will be starting our unit on Animal Adaptation also.
We will conclude our math books by the end of 2019. This week our focus with be X8 and X9. Monday, December 9, we will have an assessment on 8s and 9s, and then on Tuesday, December 10, we will have our final assessment on unit 4. Then we have a short unit on Probability and graphs and then on our return from Christmas we start measurements: Metric and Standard: Length, weight, and capacity/volume. This begins are 3B workbook.
By the end of next week we will finish up matter, energy and light, and then begin Animal Adaptation.
Wednesday we will conclude immigration and students will be sharing their immigration stories with the class. This leads us into the US Government unit: The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and citizenship.
Looking forward...
February we will start our Medieval Unit. More to come on that.
Some items we need for that unit are Plastic Gallon Milk or Orange Juice Containers. Please wash and send to school. Each child will need one. Also each child will need one 8”X10” picture frame.
