Hello Salesian 1st Grade families,

I have been asked by the administration to cancel our field trip tomorrow 3/12 to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. There are concerns about our students being in a heavily populated area like the Aquarium in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

I have told the class, and they took it very well. They are disappointed, as I am too, but we have agreed to make tomorrow a fun day for them somehow! I have also let the class know that we will do everything we can to reschedule the field trip for a later date.

Please try to find a way to talk with your child tonight about this turn of events. I think that it's important for us to maintain a calm culture here at Salesian during this time, and that is how I am approaching this with your children. (Letting them know there are more germs than normal right now vs. there are dangerous germs that can make you very sick). We want them to feel as normal and safe as possible.
