Homework Policy

I wanted to share the homework policy again, so that we are all on the same page.  Each student was given a composition book today to record daily homework assignments.  Homework will also be posted on google classroom and the school website nightly.

Homework is assigned nightly and will consist of reading, math, and vocabulary.

All math homework assignments are due the next day unless otherwise stated. Math homework must be completed when we go over it in class. Students will earn an incomplete if the assignment is not completed.

New vocabulary words will be assigned every two weeks. Once they are assigned students will have two days to complete 6 pages with 12 questions on each page. We will correct the assigned vocabulary pages on the first Wednesday after the new words are presented. The words need to be written as well as circled on every page. This will ensure that students know how to spell the words correctly. If students do not have the vocabulary completed, when we correct it in class students will earn an incomplete grade for that assignment.

Vocabulary assessments will be given every two weeks

Students are expected to read 30 minutes per night. All students have been given an Accelerated Reading (AR) Goal for the trimester. On the bottom of this newsletter you can see your child’s goal. All students should be taking an AR test at least every two weeks unless they are reading a very long chapter book.  Please make sure your child is reading and taking AR tests. Accelerated Reading tests are 20% of the reading grade. Time will be given in class to take tests. All students have been given their usernames and passwords for AR. If you are having any trouble logging on please let me know ASAP.

Long term projects

All long term projects will be given a window of one to two weeks to complete.  All projects are due on the due date.  If the project is one day late the grade will be lower one full letter grade, two days late and the grade will be lower two full letter grades. No long term project will be accepted after three days pass the due date.

Gradelink usernames and passwords were given to the students on Thursday, October 1.
