/Homework for tonight Wednesday, August 19-
Math: Finish Exercise 2/page 8 in your math workbook 5A. Rounding to the nearest ten-thousand, nearest hundred thousand, million, ten million and hundred million.
Remember: -To round to a specific place, we look at the digit in the next lower place. In other words looked to the digit to the right of the digit you are rounding. Example: If rounding to the nearest thousand look to the digit in the hundreds place. -If it is five or greater than five , we round up. If it is smaller than five, we round down. In the examples shown below we are rounding each of the following numbers to the nearest ten thousand.
248,553 ----- 250,000 the digit 8 is in the thousands place; the digit is greater than 5, so the number is round up to 250,000.
1,874,555 ----- 1,870,000 the digit 4 is in the thousands place; the digit is smaller than 5 so the number is rounded to 1,870,000.
95,000 ----- 100,000 the digit 5 is in the thousands place so you need to round up to 100,000. Math is due tomorrow Thursday, August 20!!!
