Happy Easter!

I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you and your loved ones a Happy Easter!  May the joy of the Risen Lord reign in your hearts!  As we prepare for this beautiful SEASON of EASTER we cannot do so without acknowledging what Jesus went through because of his love of us.  We cannot have an Easter without experiencing the Passion of Jesus.  Sacrifice, suffering, death, and sin cause pain and it is at times difficult to embrace these realities in the light of forming children.  Yet we know that the realities are part of our Christian journey and they cannot be excluded.  How can we explain, teach, and model to our children that these elements are part of our everyday lives?  One way to help them form a solid foundation is to go to Mass as a Family and especially these days of preparation that begin on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday!  They are all considered one prayer that retell the story of salvation. It is a wonderful experience and I encourage you to make plans to attend all of the special moments of the Triduum with your children.  If you take the time to go with your children they will know that they are important to YOU.  Another way to help teach these realities is not making everything easy for the children but guide them through the difficulties that they experience on a daily basis.  Empowering them to accept the difficulty and find solutions to deal with them.  When we make everything easy, we rob them of an opportunity to learn for themselves.  Let us continue to work together and create the scenarios in which our children can learn to suffer and go through the challenges of everyday with courage and dignity.  We are a FAMILY and it is in the FAMILY that we learn love, forgiveness, and hope!

Prayer to the Holy Family

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,

in you we contemplate the splendor of true love;

to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth,

grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer,

authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth,

may families never again experience

violence, rejection, and division;

may all who have been hurt or scandalized

find ready comfort and healing.

Holy Family of Nazareth,

make us once more mindful

of the sacredness and inviolability of the family,

and its beauty in God's plan.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,

Graciously hear our prayer.
