Dear Salesian Family and Friends, August 18, 2016
It is with great joy that I welcome you back to School! Our hope is that you have had a wonderful summer and made some great fun memories. I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our returning families and our NEW families for choosing to support Catholic Education at Salesian Elementary and Jr. High School! WE welcome all of you and your children with great joy!
The beginning of the year is filled with establishing new routines and procedures to help make our students successful not only in school but for life! Help us by establishing routines at home that will help them be accountable for their actions and be responsible. A simple way you can do that is establish a “homework” space and routine at home. Once the student has finished their work show them how to get organized for the next day the night before. Maybe by establishing an area where backpacks and shoes are placed and putting out all their uniform items ready to be put on. These practical steps will help your mornings go smoother!
We are training the students these first two weeks of school to establish routines that will help them be successful. We focus also on helping them create good habits too. I am proud to share that we have not had ONE single item of lost and found so far! This is our goal. Label all of our child’s belongings with your child’s name and help them be responsible for their personal belongings.
One new practice we are going to be introducing this year to our children is the beauty and importance of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. This is the highest form of prayer after the Mass. The dates in which we will have time before the real presence of Jesus are posted on our school calendar and they will usually be on every First Friday of the month. Our faculty and staff began the week of teacher in-services with prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. We began offering our whole selves once again to the Lord as we begin another new year of service to the young entrusted to us in the Spirit of St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello.
I would like to express a special welcome to our New Sisters in community who have embraced their new responsibilities with great joy!
